LEED for Homes Tools: We have created several tools that help projects perusing a LEED for Homes certification. Please contact Casey Dudley if you have any questions about our residential tools.

Online Project Management Tool
Following LEED for New Construction’s online application, we have created a similar tool so Project team members can upload documentation requirements, view and submit Credit Interpretation Requests (CIRs), manage key project details, and view and respond to reviewer comments. For a demonstration, please contact us to set up a WebEx session.

Builder Support Binder
This binder works with LEED for Homes resources provided by the USGBC to make understanding and navigating the program easier and less confusing. This binder includes a hard copy of the Rating System, a customized Verification outline and the Builder Support CD (below). The Builder Support Binder is included in our verification service package.
- Builder Support CD
This CD is filled will all kinds of good stuff--electronic copies of all LEED for Homes resources provided by the USGBC (so you don’t have to find it on the web); a complete set of Critical Details (a program developed by the North West Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) http://www.nwalliance.org/ ); our customized drag-and-drop photo documentation file, and everything in-between. This CD provides all the necessary resources to navigate the LEED for Homes program in an electronic version. The Builder Support CD is included in our verification service package.
- Documentation Binder
This Binder is designed to stream-line documentation for verification. With checklists and step-by-step outlines, your team will know exactly how to document each desired credit. The Documentation Binder is included in our verification service package.
Building Science Training
We have developed several training seminars to help your project team "get it right" the first time and every time afterwards. One of our qualified experts will come to your location or work virtually to deliver the workshop and provide field resources. Please contact Casey Dudley for more information about our training workshops.
- Building Tightness
Air leakage through the building envelope is the leading cause of energy waste. One of our specialists will walk through design and construction applications that drive to minimal air leakage. This training is done on-site and includes support materials for all participants.
- Optimal Value Engineering Design and Construction
Advanced Framing is another term for OVE. This training module is designed to help framing crews build tight envelopes and use minimal materials. This process starts in design to ensure construction documents detail OVE applications and then moves toward field applications. This training is done on-site and includes support materials for all participants.
- HVAC Design and Installation
An efficient and properly-sized heating and cooling system is the key to an energy efficient home. This training module starts with design, using ASHRAE Manual J and D calculations to size equipment. Next are field applications that ensure HVAC contractors know how systems are to be installed and calibrated according to a specific Rating System, like LEED for Homes.
- Insulation Installation
As technologies have advanced so has the understanding around the importance of properly installed insulation. Therefore a Thermal Bypass Inspection is required for both Energy Star and LEED for Homes. This inspection looks to ensure insulation is installed properly and thoroughly. This training module is designed to help insulation contractors understand what is required by the TBC and tips for passing this inspection the first time.
