Rankin Hall

Historic Renovation
Planning Project
University of Montana

A $1.25 million dollar gift has presented an opportunity for restoration and expansion of Jeannette Rankin Hall. This historic building has been home to the UM library, law school and psychology department. It currently houses the Social Work and the ever-growing Environmental Studies programs.

Jeannette Rankin was a 1902 graduate of UM. She was a social worker and suffragist. Jeannette was the first woman elected to U.S. Congress in 1916 and was re-elected in 1940. She was the only member of Congress to vote against the United States' entry into both world wars.

A planning team has been chosen and has begun work.  Kath Williams heads sustainability for the planning team.
