Canyon Village Redevelopment

LEEDv3 New Construction
4 Golds; 1 Silver
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Five new hotel lodges replaced 80 cabins that had been abandoned or were in substandard condition in a highly trafficed area of Yellowstone National Park. In order to build sustainably given the very short construction season, the five lodge buildings were manufactured off-site, moved to a holding area in the park, and assembled by the general contractor within one season.

An essential part of the project was protection and/or restoration of wetlands that existed on the site. Connectors to the main restaurants and services in Canyon Village were rebuilt with new bike trails constructed to reduce private car usage in the area.

Four of the lodges earned LEED Gold.  One earned LEED Silver as portions of it function as reception and small food service areas that required air conditioning.
