Teal Dorm at Lake Yellowstone

LEED v3 BD+C New Construction
LEED Gold 2018
Yellowstone National Park

This project is a seasonal dormitory for employees at Lake Yellowstone. Located in the southern part of Yellowstone National Park, the residents will support the summer only operations of the grand hotel and visitor services.

The project was built on the footprint of the original Teal Dorm, drastically reducing the environmental impact on a sensitive but popular area of the Yellowstone Park.  The design was particularly exceptional in water use reduction and indoor environmental quality.

The daylight and views studies were accomplished by students in the Montana State University Integrated Design Laboratory (IDL). Not only did their work earn two LEED points, it did influence the design and arrangement of the floor plan to allow more access to daylight for the residents.

Teal Dorm earned all four regional priority credits including exemplary performance in construction waste management.
