Brief Descriptive Narrative provided by Reid Smith Architects

John Boersma, the owner of Lone Peak Physical Therapy and Steven Rager, owner of Big Sky Health and Fitness, approached Reid Smith Architects to design a new facility for them that would better fit their needs. They had already purchased Lot 3B in Meadow Village Center , Big Sky, MT. The owners wanted to maximize the allowable square footage of 10,000 sq. ft. with two stories and a small basement. John and Steven required roughly half of the buildings square footage for the new gym, physical therapy and Steven’s wife’s massage business. All of the upper level space was to be office space. The leftover main level space was to be retail with its own entrance.

Building green was something suggested by the builder, Greene Construction. Josh Greene and several of the members of the building team had just finished a LEED seminar and had passed the LEED AP Exam. Everyone was on board and excited.

Big Sky is a highly active town nestled in the mountains of Montana . Most of it’s residents use the mountains for exercise so there wasn’t a huge need to expand to a commercial size. However, the new facility is bigger, brighter, and more functional for the Physical Therapy, the primary business.

In the end the Health and Fitness Building is a 9,679 square feet, 2-story, with a partial basement, commercial building located at

32 Market Place, Big Sky, MT. It was constructed, administered and is now operated by Madko Realty, LLC (Steven Rager). The upper level has five business offices. The main level has the Big Sky Health and Fitness gym, Lone Peak Physical Therapy, and Ozssage massage accessed from the Lobby. A retail space is also on the main level accessed from it’s own entrance.
